We recently included this design element in our 2020 dream home project, and it took the entry appeal over the top! Using LED lights under the stair treads and adding backlit wall lamps to highlight and reflect the mirrored artwork made this staircase a showcase! (Not to mention the fabulous wine closet recessed underneath!) These features were thoroughly planned and implemented during the framing stage of construction, making the process of construction detailing so crucial. The results are amazing when we can weave the groundwork for cutting-edge design into a home's foundation. Let's Go Indigo

At Susan Semmelmann Interiors, we always say that our style is your style, and this week's style feature is a very elegant take on eclectic design! We love working with our clients to ensure that their personalities and preferences are fully represented in their design plans, and eclectic homes always have a beautiful story to tell through the highly unique and personalized pieces featured throughout. But just what is eclectic style? It's often confused with bohemian style, or at least the terms are sometimes used interchangeably. They are definitely two distinct design styles! Bohemian really has no rules, favoring personal taste above any overarching design principles. On the other hand, eclectic bends the rules a bit but doesn't break with the overall principles of design. It encompasses a range of periods and styles married together through color, shape, and texture. It also relies on balance, proportion, and scale to make it cohesive and striking, introducing varying elements with restrain and an eye on high design. The eclectic palette can vary, but as you can see in these beautiful images, it's best to stay with a foundation of neutrals to tie all the elements together and highlight the showstoppers! Of course, it’s essential that each space we create has the proper amount of light, but more importantly, we focus on how those spaces are lit. Once we determine the “how,” then we turn on the “wow!” Lighting should be utilized as an accent or complement to design and décor elements. At Susan Semmelmann Interiors, we love to bring light, life, and beauty to our clients' homes in every way we possibly can. This week we highlight the skylight as a home design feature that invites a gorgeous, natural vibe to your spaces. At Susan Semmelmann Interiors, we love working with our clients to incorporate design elements with a stylish edge. With that in mind, this week, we are featuring live edge furniture!
