Noteworthy Neutrals

Do you love the soothing minimalist appeal of a neutral-toned space? At Susan Semmelmann Interiors, we receive many client requests for this look and feel, and it is always a fun challenge to keep it fresh, interesting, unique, and noteworthy! One of our favorite ways to bump up the appeal of a neutral space is through the use of texture – both visual and tactile. Visual texture is also referred to as implied texture because it is not actually real; it is an illusion created through artistic media to mimic certain surfaces and create the appearance of depth and dimension. Artwork, wallcoverings, rugs, fabrics, and wall treatments are several design elements that can introduce beautiful visual texture. Actual texture is tactile in nature. It draws the eye in with raised, patterned, and sculptural elements of materials like wood, stone, plaster, tile, and textiles, among others. The immediate response is to reach out and touch the surface and admire the artistic craftsmanship and creative design vision. This week’s inspiration images include a lovely design palette as an example of a perfectly planned neutral look with just the right blend of soothing vibes and sophisticated style. Let Susan Semmelmann Interiors help you design a noteworthy neutral space with the addition of fabulous, fashion-forward textural features!
