Playing with Pattern

At Susan Semmelmann Interiors, we love playing with pattern! Layering elements of pattern is an integral part of the design process. From fabrics and furnishings to flooring and décor, pattern is always at play when design choices are made. The desired outcome brings an artful rhythm and flow to the eye, but be mindful when choosing your options, too much variation can come across as chaotic and distracting. When putting a design plan together for our clients, we make sure their personalities are reflected through pattern in a way that is tasteful and elegant and speaks directly to their individuality. As you can see in these inspiration images, there is a lovely expression that can be made through the use of visual form and motion. There are dramatic elements at play, such as bold flooring and wall treatments, layered with more subtle details like luxury light fixtures, architecturally styled furnishings, beautifully veined tile and organic wood grain, and gorgeous fabrics.
